By Alisa Xu · Product Manager, Ningbo Torchmark Hardware Co., Ltd. · LinkedIn A rivet nut — also sold as a nut-sert, threaded insert or rivnut — puts a load-bearing thread into thin sheet where you cannot reach the back to weld or tap. That single capability is why the tool belongs in automotive repair, HVAC ducting, enclosure building and general fabrication. This page covers our manual rivet nut range: what each tool is built for, how M3–M12 sizing actually behaves on the panel, and what to confirm before you approve a sample.

Source: Torchmark Riveting & Fastening catalog. The 110P is the short, portable spec suited to repair counters and small-batch fabrication; the LR-HR-09 14-inch kit is the retail-ready answer, shipped complete so your customer opens one case and starts work. Why the extra inch matters
Handle length is not marketing. Setting an M8 or M12 insert in heavier gauge takes real pull, and a 13-inch tool makes an operator work for it. The LR-HR-09 at 14 inches (about 350 mm) gives noticeably more leverage for the same effort, which is the reason tradespeople ask for the long-handle format by name and why it is the version that gets reordered.
For bench work, enclosures and ducting where the panel comes to the operator, the 110P 13-inch rivet nut gun is the more compact choice and is supplied 10 pieces per case. Thread size, hole size and grip range
The numbers buyers get wrong are not the thread — they are the hole. Drill the hole oversize and the insert spins; undersize and it will not seat. Confirm the panel thickness against the grip range before you specify the insert, because the same M6 insert is sold in several grip ranges.
We publish the drill and grip table against the actual insert you intend to run, because it varies by insert manufacturer and material. Send the insert spec with your RFQ and we confirm the mandrel and nosepiece set that matches — this is the single check that prevents a rejected lot.
Insert materials supported include aluminium, steel and stainless steel. Blind rivets for the same channel are supplied to DIN 7337, ISO 15983 and IFI-114, in Ø 3.2 / 4.0 / 4.8 / 6.4 mm with grip ranges from 1.6 mm to 12.0 mm.
Applications that drive repeat orders
- Automotive repair: replacing stripped threads in body panels and brackets where there is no access behind the sheet.
- HVAC ducting: fixing hangers, access panels and brackets to thin galvanised sheet.
- Enclosures and racking: adding threads to powder-coated or pre-finished panels without welding.
- General fabrication: any assembly where a nut on the back of the panel is not an option.
Mandrels, spares and the accessory line
Mandrels wear. Any distributor running a rivet nut programme should stock the mandrel sizes they sell inserts for, because a tool with a stripped mandrel is a tool out of service. Interchangeable mandrels are supplied in the LR-HR-09 kit; additional sizes and replacement mandrels are quoted on request, and we recommend including one spare mandrel per size in the first order.
Ordering and OEM
Minimum order quantity differs by SKU and finish, and small-batch private-label runs are supported. Tell us the model mix and quantity and we confirm MOQ and lead time together. OEM and private label covers tool colour, logo marking, instruction language, retail packaging, master-carton marks and private-label fastener labels.
Commercial questions about certificates, payment terms and importing are answered in our hand tool sourcing FAQ. Frequently asked questions
Do you supply the rivet nuts as well as the tool?
Yes. The LR-HR-09 kit ships with assorted rivet nuts, and inserts are quoted separately in aluminium, steel and stainless steel, metric or inch.
Is the M3–M12 range a compatibility guarantee?
No. It lists the mandrel and nosepiece sizes catalogued for the tool. Insert behaviour changes with material, parent-panel thickness, grip range and hole tolerance — confirm the exact insert and verify on a sample.
Can I get a 14-inch tool without the 150-piece kit?
Yes. Tool-only and kit configurations are both available; state which on the RFQ.
