Flaring Tool Sample Approval Checklist for Distributors
Record model, tube and fitting requirements, sample results and approved packaging before placing a bulk flaring tool order. Includes a practical approval record.
A sample should answer a purchasing question: will the agreed tool configuration meet the buyer's documented application? A good-looking sample or one acceptable flare is not a complete bulk-order approval. Use the following record to separate model selection, application checks and packaging approval.
- Freeze the requirement before testing Record the exact model, size system, tube outside diameter, tube material and wall thickness, mating fitting and required flare form. Obtain the applicable tool and fitting instructions. Agree who will assess the sample and what evidence they must provide. Do not treat a catalogue's 45-degree description as approval for every fitting or tube material.
For example, our catalogue lists CT-191A with 3/16, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2 and 5/8 inch sizes; CT-191M lists 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16 mm. Keep the original units on the approval sheet. An approximate conversion is not an approved substitute.

- Record what arrived Assign a sample reference. Photograph the model identification, size markings, tool and package contents. Compare them with the quotation. Record missing parts, damage or unclear markings as open issues instead of silently accepting a different configuration. Keep the sample reference tied to the supplier quotation revision.
- Agree application-specific checks Use the intended tubing and fittings and the manufacturer's instructions. A competent evaluator should record tube grip, operation, repeatability and the condition and dimensions of the finished flare against the agreed requirements. Document failures as well as acceptable results. The number of trials and acceptance limits must be agreed for the application; there is no universal test count supplied by this checklist.
A visual check cannot establish leak-tightness or suitability for service. Any assembly or pressure testing must follow the equipment and fitting manufacturer's requirements and be conducted by qualified personnel. This purchasing record is not an installation procedure or a certification.
- Use a written approval record Copy these fields into your purchasing sheet: Sample reference and receipt date: Supplier quotation and revision: Tool model and size system: Tube specification and batch: Fitting specification and required flare: Instructions used and revision: Checks performed and acceptance limits: Results, photographs and unresolved issues: Decision: approved / conditional / rejected: Approved configuration and packaging: Evaluator, approval date and retained-sample location:
If approval is conditional, state exactly which issue must be corrected and whether another sample is required. Keep an agreed reference sample where practical. Approval of one size or configuration should not silently approve every model in a mixed order.
- Separate sample approval from shipment release Confirm the ordered model allocation, labels and carton data separately. Our CT-191 catalogue reference is 20 pieces per carton, 17/16 kg gross/net and 34 × 26.5 × 25 cm. Customized packing must be reconfirmed. Before shipment, compare the final packing list with the approved order, rather than relying on sample packaging alone.
