JQ-022 Pull-Wire Drain Cable 7-10 mm 3-10 m
JQ-022 pull-wire drain cable in 7, 8, 9 and 10 mm, 3 to 10 m. Thirteen item numbers of bare cable for drum augers and replacement stock, from Ningbo.
What JQ-022 is and what it is not
JQ-022 is a bare drain cleaning cable. There is no drum, no handle and no housing: you get a coiled steel cable with a formed end, in 3, 5, 7 or 10 m and in 7, 8, 9 or 10 mm. That makes it a consumable and a spare part rather than a complete tool, and it is bought by two kinds of customer — a trade user who already owns a drum or a drill attachment and needs cable, and a brand owner who needs replacement cable to support augers they already sell.
Thirteen item numbers cover the range. The full table is below.

The 10 mm items are listed with two line and weight values because the cable is offered in two builds at that diameter. State which build you want on the order; do not assume the lighter one.
Choosing a diameter
Diameter decides what the cable can be pushed through and how much resistance it takes before it kinks. A 7 mm cable is the lightest in the range and suits short runs and small traps where a heavier cable simply will not turn a bend. 8 mm is the general-purpose size for household branch lines and is the one most trade customers reorder. 9 mm and 10 mm are for longer horizontal runs and larger waste pipe, where the extra stiffness is what carries the cable to the blockage instead of coiling in the first bend.
The trade-off is real in both directions. Going one size up does not make a cable universally better: a 10 mm cable in a tight trap can refuse to turn and will kink where a 7 mm would have passed. Treat the table above as a filter and confirm against the actual pipe, the access point and the obstruction. The reasoning is set out in our drain auger cable size chart.
Length, reach and the honest limit
Length is the length of cable, not the reach you will get in a real drain. Every bend takes up cable, and a coiled cable that has to turn two 90-degree fittings loses a meaningful part of its nominal length before it reaches anything. On a straight run the nominal figure is close to real; on an older building with offset wastes it is optimistic.
For that reason we do not publish a claimed working reach per length. Buyers who quote reach to their own customers should test on the job type they sell into, and where a run is long or has multiple bends, a rod set is often the better answer than a longer cable — see the JQ-025 9 m drain rod set.
Ends, couplings and compatibility
The cable in the photographs has a formed end and a ferrule fitting at the other end. What matters for a replacement order is the coupling: which drum, handle or drill adapter the cable is expected to lock into, and whether the customer's existing tool uses the same fitting. A cable with the right diameter and the wrong coupling is a return, not a sale.
Ask for the coupling detail before ordering a replacement batch, and cross-check the working end against our guide to drain auger tip types. If you are sourcing cable to support augers you already import, send a sample of the tool it has to fit and we will confirm fitment against it rather than against a drawing.
Buying cable as a consumable
Anyone selling drain augers to the trade eventually needs to sell cable. A customer whose cable kinks on a Friday afternoon is not going to buy a new auger if replacement cable is on the shelf; if it is not, they will buy the auger somewhere else next time. Carrying cable in the two or three sizes that match the augers you sell converts a one-off tool sale into a repeat line.
That is why we keep this range separate from the complete tools. If you need cable for your own drum units, the drain auger spare cables page covers the drum-side option; the complete tools are in the JQ-009 drum auger range, the JQ-002A / JQ-002B hand drum augers and the drill-capable JQ-003 manual and drill-powered drain auger. If your assortment is retail rather than trade, the JQ-020 blister-packed hand drain auger is the shelf-ready option.
Coiling, packing and protection
Bare cable has to be coiled so it does not take a set in the box. The coils in the photographs are tied; packing format, carton quantity and the minimum order per item number are quoted per enquiry rather than published here. Tell us whether you want the cable coiled and tied, or coiled and sleeved, because the two need different cartons and different labour.
Weight per item is in the table and can be used to model freight now: 0.45 kg at the lightest 3 m / 7 mm item up to 3.1 kg at the heaviest 10 m / 10 mm build.
Frequently asked questions
Does JQ-022 include a handle or a drum?
No. It is cable only. If you need a complete tool, choose the drum or hand auger ranges linked above; if you need cable to feed an existing tool, this is the right range. Confirm the coupling before ordering.
Which length should a distributor stock first?
The 5 m and 10 m items in 8 mm and 9 mm are the sizes that see repeat demand from trade customers. Stocking only long lengths is a common mistake: a customer with a short trap needs a short cable, and will not cut one down. A mix across two diameters and two lengths is usually enough to cover most of the counter demand.
Can the cable be supplied cut to a non-standard length?
Lengths outside the thirteen listed item numbers are a commercial question, not a catalogue one. Send the length, diameter and quantity and we will confirm whether it is feasible and what the terms are. We will not quote a non-standard length as if it were a stock item.
Is the cable suitable for a drill?
Do not assume that. Drill operation puts different torque through a cable and the answer depends on the coupling and the build. If you intend to sell the cable for drill use, say so on the enquiry and it will be confirmed for the specific item. Our note on manual versus drill-powered drain augers explains why this matters.
How do I get a quotation?
Email the item numbers and quantities with the country you are selling into. Item numbers alone are enough to start. Where fitment against an existing tool has to be checked, we will ask for a sample before confirming.
