What the JQ-010A and JQ-010B are
A small-diameter hand auger with a 1.5 m to 10 m cable, made for the drains that a drum machine cannot reach and a plunger cannot shift. The only difference between the two models is the handle colour: JQ-010A is red, JQ-010B is black. The specification is identical.

Two cable sizes, not one range
5 mm and 6 mm are different tools for different pipes. The 6 mm cable carries more torque before it winds up, which matters on a 10 m run.
Why the 6 mm models list two weights
Because the 6 mm versions are built with either a 1.2 mm or a 1.3 mm line. The heavier line is the one to quote where the customer intends to drive the auger from a drill.
The handle colour is a channel decision
Red and black exist so a distributor can put one colour on a retail shelf and the other in a trade catalogue without carrying two specifications. Neither colour is a heavier-duty version.
The 10 m version is the reason this range exists
Most compact hand augers stop at 5 m. The -3 and -7 items go to 10 m in a tool that still weighs 1.25 kg.
Reach without a machine
A 10 m run from a kitchen gully to a stack is out of reach for a 5 m auger. This is the tool that covers it without a drum machine and without a power supply.
Weight stays under 1.3 kg
1.25 kg at 10 m is the number that makes the tool usable one-handed at arm's length. It also keeps the master carton light enough for small-parcel retail.
10 m of small cable is not 10 m of large cable
A 10 m 9 mm auger weighs 2.3 kg. The trade-off between the two is reach against stiffness, and it is worth putting both numbers in front of a buyer.
Where these augers are used
Basins and bath wastes
The 1.5 m and 3 m 5 mm items are the basin tools. A 5 mm cable goes round a bath trap that a 6 mm cable will not.
Urinals and small floor drains
Where the bore is narrow and the blockage is hair, soap or scale, the 5 mm cable with a small head does the work.
Kitchen and utility sinks
The 6 mm items handle food waste and grease film in a 40 mm waste pipe, which is the most common trade call.
Condensate and small drainage runs
Long, thin runs that a drum machine cannot enter are what the 10 m 6 mm item was specified for.
How it is operated and where it stops
Feed by hand, do not force
The cable is turned by the handle and fed in by hand. Pushing hard on a 5 mm cable kinks it, and a kink is the end of that cable.
A drill will drive the 1.3 mm line, not the 1.2 mm one
Where a customer intends to use a drill, quote the 1.3 mm line version and set the drill to a low clutch. A drill on full torque will wind a small cable into a knot.
Stop when the cable stops twice
If the cable meets a hard stop at the same distance twice, the line has a fitting, an offset joint or a collapse. More force does not fix any of them.
Rinse and dry after use
Drain water left on a carbon-steel cable is what turns a two-year tool into a one-season tool. Rinsing and drying is the whole maintenance routine.
When this auger is the wrong choice
Three situations where the honest recommendation is a different tool.
A toilet pan
A 5 mm cable will not negotiate a toilet trap, and it can mark the porcelain. A purpose-made toilet auger with a guard is the correct answer.
A main line or a stack
Small cable in a 100 mm main line does nothing. That is a drum auger job, and the range is on our manual drum auger page.
Roots, or a collapsed pipe
Neither is cleared by a hand tool. If the customer describes repeat blockages at the same point, the next step is a camera survey, not a longer cable.
Packing, branding and order quantities
Carton weights by item
Because the tool runs from 0.13 kg to 1.25 kg, carton data has to be quoted per item rather than per range. Ask for the item list you intend to order.
Logo and label options
Handle marking, a printed sleeve and the carton artwork are all quoted against the configuration. Artwork approval sits inside the lead time.
Mixed orders
Mixing 5 mm and 6 mm items in one shipment is normal. Send the item numbers and quantities and we will quote the total.
Lead time
Typically 15 to 45 days. Stock configurations sit at the low end, new packaging or new artwork at the high end.
Questions buyers ask about the JQ-010 range
What is the difference between JQ-010A and JQ-010B?
Handle colour only. JQ-010A is red and JQ-010B is black, and the seven variants under each model share the same specification.
Which length should I stock first?
The 5 m 6 mm item covers most trade calls. Add the 10 m 6 mm item where customers work long runs, and the 1.5 m 5 mm item for basin work.
Can the cable be replaced?
The cable is the wearing part rather than the handle. Spare cables are listed separately in the spare cable range.
Will it clear a toilet?
No. It is a basin and waste-pipe auger. A toilet needs a guarded toilet auger, and recommending this one wastes the customer's time.
Can it be driven by a drill?
On the 6 mm models with the 1.3 mm line, at low clutch. Do not drive the 1.2 mm line or the 5 mm cable with a drill.
What is the minimum order?
It depends on the mix and the packaging. Send the item numbers and quantities and we will quote against the configuration.
Request a quotation
Send the item numbers, quantities, packing and destination and we will return carton data and a quotation. Email amy@longrunhardware.com, alisa@longrunhardware.com or akira@longrunhardware.com, or message us on WhatsApp at +86 158 6745 7689. Product Manager Alisa Xu handles this range. Start from the drain auger range, or go to the JQ-003 manual and drill-powered auger, the JQ-004 hand-turn auger, the manual drum auger and the 9 m drain rod set. Which head to fit is set out in the drain auger tip guide, cable sizing in the cable size chart, and tool choice in the drum auger versus drain snake guide and the manual versus drill-powered guide. The same range is listed for the trade on our Longrun drain augers page. The 7 mm to 10 mm professional range
Where the job needs a heavier cable or a longer reach than a 5 mm auger can give, the JQ-009A, JQ-009B and JQ-009C drain augers run 7 mm to 10 mm cable in 3 m, 5 m, 7 m and 10 m, with 13 item numbers per version and a weight span of 0.45 kg to 3.1 kg. The three versions share one specification table, so the choice between them is a packaging and channel decision rather than a performance one.
